About the Mill
Hope Mill was built in 1812 and has had an interesting past with many uses and owners. Robert Bamford, a respected woolen yarn manufacturer, acquired both Hope Mill and the soon to be demolished Gough Mill in 1829. Between 1863 and 1910 large parts of Hope Mill were used for silk weaving. The remaining parts of the mill were turned into a private boat builders yard which remained until 1937 despite the closure of the canal in 1933 after which the mill was transformed into industrial use until 1973.
In 2011, Mushroom Internet moved into Hope Mill commemorating the buidings 200th year with a much needed refurb. We now have a great base located next to the popular Thames and Severn Canal.
